The Best Dad I Ever Saw! - Day 45 - Daily Content Challenge
Today’s fridge magnets remind me of my Dad, G. Harris J. Graham (1917-2012). He is definitely the Best Dad I Ever Saw!
Dad grew up near the small town of Parrsboro, Nova Scotia.
When he was in grade 11, he moved into town and boarded with a family so he could attend high school. He apprenticed as a pharmacy clerk at Wright’s Pharmacy before eventually moving to Dartmouth, NS where he met Mom and just before enlisting in the war started working for Maritime Tel & Tel.
After serving with the RCAF in England, Dad returned home and continued working for the telephone company. Mom and Dad were married in 1946 and began to raise a family. When Dad retired he and Mom returned to the Parrsboro area and Dad remained in his home until 2012. One magnet shows Main St. in Parrsboro.
The other magnet is one I bought at a Craft Sale in Lethbridge, AB and gave to my Dad one Christmas. I was teaching in the County of Lethbridge and would often go ‘home’ to spend Christmas with my parents.
This magnet was placed on the fireplace in their home in Parrsboro and remained there for about 20 years. When my Dad passed in 2012 and my sisters and I were packing up the house, this magnet was one I took back home with me. It has a special place in my collection.
