Six White Elephants
Six White Elephants - Day 128 - Daily Content Challenge
Today’s matriarch is the head of a group of six elephants.
White elephants, as mentioned in my post about the bell showing the elephant flag of Siam, are quite rare. In fact there are approximately 30 white elephants left in the world and they can be found in Thailand.
This set of elephants was a gift from my sister, purchased at a gift shop in Africa, most likely in Harare, Zimbabwe. The artisan who carved these elephants was actually living in Africa. I love this artist’s work. Creating these six pieces and making the elephants look so real is amazing. The beautiful long trunks, the tusks of the matriarch, the eyes and ears on each animal. Such attention to details makes this set so special.
Thank you Ruth for such a lovely memento of your time in Zimbabwe and the wonderful visits we had together.
Read more about my travels to visit and see so many wonderful sites all around the world in my Travelling Tuesdays book.
