St. Patrick's Day March 17th
St. Patrick’s Day - March 17th - Day 161 - Daily Content Challenge
☘ ☘ ☘ Happy St. Patrick’s Day everyone. Are you wearing something green today?
They say everyone claims to be Irish on St. Patrick’s Day. ☘ ☘ ☘Â
St. Patrick’s Day was originally celebrated in Ireland with religious services and feasts to honour St. Patrick who is one of Ireland’s patron saints. When Irish immigrants came to the United States and brought their traditions with them, St. Patrick’s Day evolved into a celebration of Irish culture.
I had the opportunity to live in Dublin for a year with my sister, Ruth. We were there on St. Patrick’s Day 30 years ago and we watched the parade as it passed by St. Stephen’s Green.
My picture today is a framed counted cross stitch project that I did which showcases Ireland. Â
There are shamrocks all around the border of this project. The shamrock is a three-leaf clover. Legends say that St. Patrick used the three leaves of the shamrock to explain the Holy Trinity - God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. Â
This is one of the prayers attributed to Patrick. May the Strength of God pilot us. May the Power of God preserve us. May the Wisdom of God Instruct us.
Here is another way to say the same prayer and make it personnel and to say it with affirmation.
I arise today with God’s strength to pilot me, God’s might to uphold me, and God’s wisdom to guide me.Â
Have a Blessed day everyone. Enjoy being Irish today. ☘ ☘ ☘
