Learn From the Giants

 Kekich Credo #8 is just four words.  Learn from the giants.

Hmm… time to dissect this statement.

1. Learn - Be a lifelong learner. Never stop learning.  Invest in yourself. 

2. Lifelong learning is the ongoing pursuit of knowledge for either personal or professional reasons. A lifelong learner is self-motivated and voluntarily finds ways to keep on learning.  Being a lifelong learner means you have a growth mindset and you are curious about the world.  You are a person who is constantly pushing to find new challenges, new ideas, and new experiences.     

3.  Giants - I looked up the definition of the word giant.  The first one says a giant is a legendary humanlike being of great stature and strength. 

4. Legendary - hmm - that makes me think of Legendary Marketer, David Sharpe.  You can find out more about his training for entrepreneurs. 
5. Another lifelong learner that comes to mind is Jeff Lerner.  He is one of the founders of Entre Institute. Here is an eBook that you can download.   
6. And of course a third giant that I know is Jordan Mederich aka Jordo.  He is the founder of DropFunnels.   
7. Other definitions say a giant is a living being of great size, a person of extraordinary powers or something unusually large or powerful.  I am not sure the size of one’s stature is the kind of giant this credo is telling us to model.  Rather we need to learn from those who have gone before. 
8. This reminds me of the phrase ‘Standing on the shoulders of giants’.  This metaphor means we need to use the knowledge or understanding gained by the major thinkers who have gone before us if we are to make any intellectual progress.  So when we learn from giants, we are learning from those who have been there, done that.
   Don’t think you know it all.  You can learn a lot from others.

9. Learn from the giants.  Who are the giants in your field? Do some research and find out who they are and then learn from them. Model them, check out their website, learn all you can from them.

In his book John shares the stories of nine people in the Bible who fought and won battles, served kings, and endured great hardships for God. Maxwell explores timeless lessons we can learn about leadership and our relationship with God.

Wow!  Who knew what these four words in the Eighth Kekich Credo would lead me to write in this post today.  Be a lifelong learner and Learn from the Giants.
