Keep an Active Mind - Be a Lifelong Learner

Kekich Credo Statements - Keep an Active Mind - Be a Lifelong Learner - Day 216 - Daily Content Challenge

Kekich Credo #28 - Keep an active mind, and continue to grow intellectually. You either grow or regress. Nothing stands still.

Keep an active mind.  If you have an active mind or imagination, you are always thinking of new things.

A healthy brain is a critical piece of your overall health.  Your brain enables you to communicate, make decisions, problem-solve and live a productive and useful life.  The brain controls so much of your daily function.  It truly is the most valuable organ in the human body.  It is important to exercise your brain. Using your brain helps to keep it sharp and potentially lower the risk of developing dementia.

Doing Jigsaw puzzles is a good way to keep your mind active.  Using your mind to figure out where the pieces go isn’t just for kids or something to pass the time during lockdown.  It actually stimulates your brain. Another thing you can do is playing games, even computer and video games. I play scrabble.

Stick to an exercise routine.  Your mind and body are interconnected.  Read, listen to music, write [journaling], draw, play a musical instrument, engage with others, eat a healthy diet, drink enough water, get plenty of sleep and learn a new skill.  All these things are important to help you keep your mind active.

Cognitive or intellectual development in a child means the growth of a child to think and reason. It is about how they organize their minds, ideas and thoughts to make sense of the world we live in.  That intellectual growth should never stop.  Learning something new adds to your knowledge, wisdom and even makes you more valuable to others and helps you to enjoy life.  Growing intellectually is very fulfilling.  It is about being inquisitive and asking questions.  The more you ask, the more you learn.  Intellectual growth is important to success.  The world needs people who are committed to improving their lives and the lives of others.

You are never too old to learn and grow.  Lifelong learning means exactly that - lifelong.

Lifelong learning is the voluntary and self-motivated pursuit of knowledge.  It enhances social inclusion, active citizenship and individual development. A simple definition of lifelong learning is that it is the continuing development of knowledge and skills that people experience after formal education and throughout their lives.

Learning new skills can open up new opportunities.  Learners may develop an interest in an area that they never explored before.  Lifelong learning fuels creativity and innovation. Learners may use their new knowledge and skills to develop new ideas and solutions.

Lifelong learning stimulates greater neuron generation and connection in the brain.  Neurons send information throughout the body and when there are more neurons it positively affects memory, attention, thinking and reasoning skills.  Continually learning new things can reduce the risk of cognitive decline.

If you are finding your brain is increasingly foggy, try doing something that activates your brain a little more. Engaging your mind may help promote mental health.  As this credo statement says, keep an active mind and continue to grow intellectually.
