Appearance versus Reality
Kekich Credo Statements - Appearance versus Reality - Day 218 - Daily Content Challenge
Kekich Credo #30 - Power comes from stripping away appearances and seeing things as they really are. Socialism appeals to psychological and intellectual weaklings. Identify and replace all external authorities with internal strength and competence. Take full control of, and responsibility for, your conscious mind and every aspect of your life. Being incompetent or dependent in any part of your life or business opens you up to sloppiness, manipulation and irrationality.
Power comes from stripping away appearances. Stripping away means to remove something that covers up something. To remove unimportant material from something.
Appearances means the way someone or something looks before the public.
Are appearances important? Do appearances matter? A positive personal appearance is an effective way to boost self-confidence and to overcome anxiety over one's ability. Appearance does matter because it creates our first impression to the people around us. Other attributes that build our perception about others are their actions. Do they walk the talk? Do you walk the talk? Body language and your ways of talking are important factors too.
We often hear the expression keep up appearances. What does that expression mean? It means to hide something bad by pretending that nothing is wrong. Appearances can be deceiving. As human beings, we tend to make decisions and judgements based on very limited information.
The main difference between appearance and reality is that appearance is the way something looks, while reality is the true state of something as it actually exists. Appearances are often deceiving and misleading. Deception means making you believe something that is not true. In philosophy, appearance is defined as what seems to be. This concept implies there is a difference between the perception of a thing and its objective reality.
Being able to distinguish appearance and reality is important if we are to better comprehend the world and ourselves. It will help us avoid errors of judgement. For those of you who are Shakespeare enthusiasts, the very character of Macbeth can be considered a clash between appearances and reality. After the greetings of the witches, Macbeth appears to be someone who he is not in reality. He appears to be loyal to the king. In reality he plans to murder the king and take his place and become king.
So this credo statement says to strip away appearances and see things as they really are.
Do you need to apply this credo to your life? Do you walk the talk? Does your appearance show others who you really are? Lots to think about today. Comment below and share your thoughts as you reflect on this Credo #30.
