Focus on Things You Can Control

Kekich Credo Statements - Focus on Things You Can Control - Day 240 - Daily Content Challenge

Kekich Credo #52 - Outside of yourself, you control nothing… but you can manage anything. Don’t be preoccupied with things over which you have no control, and don’t take things personally.

Control or Manage? - What are some things you can control? There are three things you can control every day.  You can control your attitude, your effort and your actions. You can also control what you eat, how long you sleep, how much you exercise and the way you talk to yourself.

There are lots of things you can’t control in life, so we need to learn to let go as soon as possible.  Here are some of them.  You cannot control change.  Everything changes.  The only constant thing in life is change.  You can’t control the weather.  You can’t control the past.  You can’t control someone else’s feelings or their mindset or their choices.

You need to stop worrying about the things you can’t control and focus on the things you can control.  Determine what you can control and focus on that.  Identify your fears and create a plan to manage your stress.  Develop healthy affirmations.  Control your thoughts by focusing on what’s going right rather than what’s going wrong.  You can control your view of yourself, your work ethic and your productivity level.  You can also control how you treat others and your level of honesty with yourself and others.

Don’t take things personally.  Don’t get upset by the things other people say or do just because you think their comments or behaviour are directed at you.  They usually are a result of something else that person is going through. When you take things personally, you end up on the defensive. You feel your character, abilities, competence or personal achievements are under attack.

Focus on the things that you can control.
