Kekich Credo #71 - To maximize opportunities, seek and master the complicated. The major solutions you find will be surprisingly simple, and the competition is minimal.
Seek and master the complicated. This is the first phrase that stood out to me. Â
When you say something is complicated, you mean it has so many parts that it is difficult to understand. Complicated is the opposite of simple. There are lots of little pieces to a complicated topic and to master that topic you need to know about all of them. Difficult means the problem needs skill to solve.Â
To master the complicated, you need to break it down into all the little pieces. When you discover the solutions to each smaller piece, you will be able to share your findings with others. You will be the expert and can offer the solution to others.
When studying to improve your understanding of a concept, write out an explanation of the concept or problem. Try and make it as simple as you can and avoid using jargon. Think about which parts of the concept you had trouble explaining and review the material about them. Then start over and write out the explanation of the concept again. Repeat this process until you can explain the entire concept. Try to simplify your explanation further, without leaving out any of the parts. Once you have mastered this concept then you can help others.Â
How can you explain complicated things to those who may not understand? First of all you must know your audience. Tell them why they should care about this topic. Break it up into bite-sized pieces. Keep it simple and trim the fat. Hold their attention by telling stories, use examples and reinforce their understanding.Â
Each of the parts of this complicated topic can become individual modules in a course that you could create and offer online or provide DFY solutions to others. Â
