Unattended Problems Usually Get Worse

Kekich Credo Statements - Unattended Problems Usually Get Worse - Day 277 - Daily Content Challenge

Kekich Credo #89 - Unattended problems will not go away, but will usually get worse. Anticipate and avoid problems – or meet them head on at the outset. Overcome fear by attacking it.

Unattended problems will not go away.

Problems that are left unattended have a habit of turning into something worse. They generally seem boring and often are perceived as ‘just the way things are.’  Rather than take action and make some changes they are simply allowed to lie dormant. Eventually these problems turn into crises and action is only taken as they become emergencies.

It is wise to continually review and streamline processes. This may require retraining and learning a new way of doing things, but always doing things the old way becomes the problem.  Due to changes in technology or even changes in personnel the old process may have become the problem.  For some it simply remains an annoyance that seems to be more of a hassle to deal with than to enjoy the benefit a change might make.

A number of challenges may seem small and independent of each but overtime if processes are not reviewed, refined and attended to they can lead to a crisis. Take for example a health crisis. More often than not a disease isn’t contracted immediately.  It takes time to flourish and starts with small symptoms.  A headache, a small pain or an annoying cough.  Each of these small problems can be proactively addressed.  But if they are ignored, they continue to pile up until you are diagnosed with something which is irreversible.

It is hard to tackle small problems that don’t seem that important.  However the small things can create havoc downstream if left unattended.  They can also be the simplest things to address that cost you very little, if you tackle them early enough.  Left unattended now, you may be managing a preventable crisis in the future.

Anticipate and avoid problems – or meet them head on at the outset.  This credo statement says to overcome fear by attacking the problem now.  You will be glad you did.
