Motivation - Confidence

Confidence comes not from always being right but from not fearing to be wrong.  Peter T. McIntyre

Confidence is the state of feeling certain about the truth of something.  Self-confidence is the belief in oneself and one’s abilities.

Fear is the biggest enemy of success.  It evaporates your confidence.  Even if you are competent, fear may cause you to achieve nothing but failure and embarrassment. Low self-esteem is when someone lacks confidence about who they are and what they are capable of doing.  People who struggle with low self-esteem are constantly afraid about making mistakes or letting others down.

Here are ways to build confidence.  Get things done.  Monitor your progress and do the right thing.  Exercise.  Be fearless.  Stand-up for yourself.  Follow through and think long-term.

This quote says, Confidence comes not from always being right but from not fearing to be wrong.

Not fearing to be wrong made me think of the phrase swimming against the tide or thinking or behaving in a way that disagrees with how most other people think or behave.  Setting out in a new direction.

Peter McIntryre was a New Zealand painter and author who rose to prominence as a result of artwork produced during the Second World War.  He was serving in the Middle East with the 2nd New Zealand Division and was appointed by Major General Bernard Freyberg, to be the official war artist of the 2NZEF.

After the war, McIntyre returned to New Zealand and worked as a professional painter.  In 1970 he was appointed an Officer of the order of the British Empire.  He died in 1995 at the age of 85.  He was one of New Zealand’s best known artists.

Confidence comes not from always being right but from not fearing to be wrong.
