R is for Reading - Day 31 - Daily Content Challenge
The mugs I am using today include China, Qatar and the UAE. UAE is the United Arab Emirates which consists of seven emirates and the federal capital is Abu Dhabi. Qatar is another country on the border of the UAE. I acquired my China mug while on one of my visits to Beijing, the capital city of China. And yes, I have been able to walk a small portion of the Great Wall of China.
Today I want to talk about the letter R in the acronym “Life S.A.V.E.R.S.”.
R - Reading. Reading is the best method for acquiring the knowledge, ideas and strategies you need to achieve Level 10 success in any area of your life. The key is to learn from the experts. Discover something new that you can use to think and feel better.
I am part of a study group and we are reading a book by Madeleine L'Engle. She is the author of A Wrinkle in Time. The particular book we are reading this time is Book Three in The Crosswicks Journal called The Irrational Season.
Last week we were to read Chapters 7 and 8. At the beginning of chapter 7, she makes the comment that Easter completes the cycle of blessing. The previous chapters were about the blessings Jesus taught in what is known as the Beatitudes. Her comment prompted me to write down the characteristics of those who are blessed and what blessing that person receives.
Madeleine L’Engle says one can’t move from one blessing to the next until they experience them in order.
The characteristic a blessed person must start with is to be poor in spirit. The others in order are to mourn, to be meek, to hunger and thirst for righteousness, to be merciful, to be pure in heart, to be peacemakers and to be persecuted for righteousness sake. The blessings one receives in order are the Kingdom of Heaven when we are poor in spirit, be comforted when we mourn, inherit the earth when we are meek, filled when we hunger and thirst, obtain mercy when we are merciful, see God when we are pure in heart, called the children of God when we are peacemakers, and back to the first one the Kingdom of Heaven when we are persecuted for righteousness sake. It goes in a circle - the cycle of blessing.
I shared with my study group that I had written these down at the end of Chapter 6. Yesterday one of the ladies called me to thank me for sharing what I had done and to tell me she just went back and did the same thing. Her call to me prompted me to share what I had learned with you in this post.
Today’s post is about reading and how what we read can cause us to think and to take action.
