An Elephant Shaped Bottle

An Elephant Shaped Perfume Bottle - Day 152 - Daily Content Challenge

My elephant souvenir is a glass bottle purchased at a market or souq while on my travels to countries in the Middle East, Asia or Africa.

This glass bottle reminds me of perfume bottles.  There are many names for the perfume bottle.  In some parts of the world they are called scent bottles, vials, alabastrons or decanters.  Antique and vintage perfume bottles come from all over the world so the names vary and throughout history the name changed depending on their era and origin.

Most glass bottles are made from one of three different types of glass.  They are soda-lime glass, treated soda-lime glass, or borosilicate glass. Some decorative bottles are made of leaded or crystal glass.

My glass elephant bottle has the traditional glass stopper so if I wanted to fill the bottle with perfume oil or one of the essential oils, I could do that and use it for that purpose.

My glass elephant bottle sits on my curio shelf and I keep it on display to show some of my mementos of my travels to various places all over the world.
