Promises Are Contracts Too
Kekich Credo Statements - Promises Are Contracts Too - Day 191 - Daily Content Challenge
The third statement in the Kekich Credo talks about making contracts.
Think carefully before making any offers, commitments or promises, no matter how seemingly trivial. These are all contracts and must be honoured. These also include self-resolutions.
This Credo statement says offers, commitments, promises and self-resolutions are all contracts. Before making any of these contracts one must think carefully.
What is a contract? By definition a contract is an agreement between two or more people to do something. The verb ‘to do’ means to take action. Not following through or doing nothing means you have not honoured the contract.
A contract means two parties agree to work together and create a connection that can last for years, if it is beneficial to both sides. A written contract is the visual representation of that relationship and can legally hold each party to their original agreement. A contract is used to spell out what is expected of you and what you expect of the other person or party.
The last sentence of this third Credo statement made me think about the goals or resolutions we often set for ourselves. Self-resolutions are also contracts that must be honoured.
How often do you make a promise to yourself to get something done? A resolution can be a goal that you set informally and keep private but sharing your goal with other people provides accountability. If you treat it as a legal contract the likelihood of achieving this goal will increase.
Making a resolution is one thing, but having a plan to make it happen and taking action is the best way to honour the contracts we make with ourselves. What action do you need to take today to honour the promises and commitments you have made?
