What is Success?

Kekich Credo #7 - You’re successful when you like who and what you are. Success includes achievement… while choosing and directing your own activities. It means enjoying intimate relationships and loving what you do in life.

This statement had me looking for quotes and definitions for success.  Here are my notes as I dissected the Seventh Credo Statement.

1. You are successful when you like who and what you are. You need to like yourself. You are unique and you have talents and skills that only you can share with those around you.

2. Success includes achievement.  Setting goals and then achieving them is a way to measure success.  

3. Choosing and directing your own activities.  Being your own boss and being able to pick what activities you enjoy doing is another indicator of a successful life.  

4. Loving what you do.  If you love what you do, you are successful.

Successful Paralympian, Lloyd Bachrach, is a motivational speaker. These are his Five Keys to Success. He encourages youth to live by the same five principles that have guided his life.  

• Build high self-esteem.  Believe in yourself, have confidence, like and feel good about yourself and take pride in what you do.

• Focus with a positive attitude.  Always expect the best possible outcome for what you do.  Your thoughts are like magnets, you attract what you think. 

• Set powerful goals.  Give your brain a place to aim.  Set goals so that you can reach them.  When you do, reach a little higher.

• Persevere.  Never quit.  Never give up.  Keep going and keep trying.

• Maintain a healthy mind, body, and spirit.  Take care of yourself through a healthy diet, exercise, and say no to drugs.

 ‘Success is liking yourself, liking what you do, and liking how you do it.’  This quote by Maya Angelou is very similar to what this Seventh Credo is saying. 

Believe in yourself and you will have a successful life.
