Kekich Credo #24 - Enthusiasm covers many deficiencies – and will make others want to associate with you.
Enthusiasm - The definition says enthusiasm is intense and eager enjoyment, interest or approval. If you are enthusiastic about something, you show how much you like it or enjoy it by the way you behave and talk. The opposite of enthusiasm is apathy, indifference or lukewarm. Â
In the workplace an enthusiastic employee will typically show up on time and show an interest in his or her job. An enthusiastic person demonstrates a willingness to listen, to learn, and to try new things. Enthusiastic workers are known to provide good customer service, are able to resolve interpersonal conflict effectively and work productively with others.
There are benefits of being enthusiastic. An enthusiastic person is more productive and more confident. Others will view you in a more positive light and you will experience more peace of mind at the end of the day.
How can you show enthusiasm in copywriting? Adjectives like amazing, awesome, fantastic, incredible and unbelievable can be used to express your enthusiasm and joy. Be careful not to use these extreme adjectives too often as they lose their impact when overused.
If you are a teacher, being enthusiastic helps your students’ performance and also improves classroom behaviour. Students are more engaged rather than tuning out from boredom.
How can you communicate with enthusiasm or warmth? Smiling shows warmth and enthusiasm and makes you seem approachable. Smiling is contagious. Just by smiling at someone you build an immediate connection.
When you are talking you can show your enthusiasm in your actions. Gesture widely especially when speaking to a large group from the stage or on a zoom call. Smile and let the excitement shine through in your voice. Maintain eye contact by looking at the camera. Be genuinely excited. Â
Enthusiasm is always a good thing. When you embrace a new opportunity with enthusiasm, it presents an opportunity for pleasure allowing the natural endorphins to provide you with a healthy buzz. It also promotes optimism which is the best antidote to almost anything.
One of the main reasons people struggle to be enthusiastic is that they are never truly present in the moment. They are always thinking about what they did wrong yesterday or last week or they are worrying about the future and everything they have on their to-do list.
Are you enthusiastic? I hope so. Have a great day everyone!
