Kekich Credo #26 - Religiously nourish your body with proper nutrition, exercise, recreation, sleep and relaxation techniques.
Nourish your body to provide what you need to stay healthy and flourish. By definition to nourish a person, an animal or a plant means to provide them with the food that is necessary for life, growth and good health. Eating nourishing food helps us heal and fight illness. It allows us to move well as we age and it protects our mental health against the stresses of life. Our bodies use nutrients from the food we eat to make the components that carry out hundreds of processes. Â
The food we consume is only one form of nourishment. Sleep, exercise, stress management, spirituality, relationships, pursuit of personal passions and career are other ways we provide nourishment to our bodies.
In the busy-ness of each day it is easy to compromise self-care. When we consistently complete daily tasks at the expense of well-being, we have low energy, a lack of concentration and a lack of motivation. Instead of eating well, sleeping well, being active and spending time doing things that feed our soul, our body ends up running on fumes instead of real energy. Increasing daily self-care habits will help condition the body and mind to perform at a higher level. Prioritizing self-care is a complete game changer. By making time to nurture ourselves daily we can shift our lives into high gear.
I like this quote by Deborah Day. ‘Nourish yourself in a way that helps you blossom. You are worth the effort.’ Do the little things that make you happy. Take five and tune into the beneficial ways to nourishment. Include proper nutrition, exercise, recreation, sleep and relaxation in your daily routine. Â
