Reaching Your Full Potential

Kekich Credo Statements - Reaching Your Full Potential - Day 215 - Daily Content Challenge

Kekich Credo #27 - The choice to exert integrated effort or to default to camouflaged laziness is the key choice that determines your character, competence and future. That critical choice must be made continually – throughout life. The most meaningful thing to live for is reaching your full potential.

The most meaningful thing to live for is reaching your full potential.  What is your full potential? Human potential is the capacity to improve yourself to reach the limit of your ability to develop aptitudes and skills. To achieve the standard that you are capable of or to be the best that you can be.

Your full potential isn’t a destination, it is a journey. Reaching your full potential takes patience, courage, self-awareness and a whole lot of grit.

The first step to find your potential is to listen to yourself.  Identify your inner voice. Once you have planned a suitable final destination, it is time to make a conscious effort to reach that destination.  Define your goals, accept failures and celebrate your successes. Identify your strengths and weaknesses and the activities you truly enjoy doing.

You can tell if someone who applies for a position has potential by the way they make it clear who they are from the get-go.  They know what you need and show that in their application.  They admit their weaknesses, but are able to turn those weaknesses into opportunities. If you say someone has potential you mean that they have the necessary abilities or qualities to become successful in the future.

Is it a compliment to say someone has potential?  At first it feels like a compliment. It feels like there is someone else who recognizes something in you that you can’t see in yourself.  It can be nurturing and make you want to lift your game.  But there is a downside to that statement too. Being told you have potential implies that you could be more than you are today.

Here are some things you can do to unleash your potential.  You can observe your feelings, take personality tests, listen when people praise your talents, be courageous, and set challenging but achievable goals. Everyday take a small step toward your dreams, work on your habits and let go of bitterness.

What does it mean to realize your potential? It means to perform to the utmost of one’s abilities.
