Recognizing New Opportunities

Kekich Credo Statements - Recognizing New Opportunities - Day 256- Daily Content Challenge

Kekich Credo #68 - There are an infinite number of new opportunities. Actively seek them out, and position yourself to recognize and take advantage of them.

New opportunities allow you to do something that you want to do. A new opportunity may offer better work/life balance, better benefits, new skills to be learned or acquired, or a better work environment.  If you explore the opportunities presented to you, you can’t lose and can only gain.  Improving your knowledge of what options are available, is generally at no risk to you and it helps you develop and work toward your goals.

Here is a quote from Thomas A. Edison. “The reason a lot of people do not recognize opportunity is because it usually goes around wearing overalls looking like hard work.”

Recognizing opportunities relies on your ability to use your prior knowledge and experiences to make connections between the problems or needs you or the people around you have.  Listen to your potential clients and past leads. Listen to your customers needs, wants, challenges and frustrations.  Look at your competitors and look at the trends in your particular niche.  The key to recognizing an opportunity is to identify a product or service that people need and are willing to buy, not one that an entrepreneur wants to make and sell.

Many people don’t take advantage of an opportunity because they think they will make a mistake but making mistakes can be opportunities too.  Each mistake is a learning opportunity no matter how big or small.  Learn from yourself, learn from others and keep moving forward with the new knowledge and experience you gained by taking advantage of an opportunity.

Mistakes are not only opportunities for learning but also a time when our brains grow.  It is okay to make mistakes, especially when we are learning something new. When we learn to reflect on our own mistakes, we become stronger people as we come to know our own strengths and weaknesses and as a result we are more likely to recognize new opportunities and can take advantage of those that come our way.
