Kekich Credo #73 - Nothing wins more often than superior preparation. Genius is usually preparation.
Preparation is the action or process of getting ready for some occasion, test or duty. It can also be the act of getting something ready for use or service. It is a management principle whereby people get ready for a final product or a future event. Being prepared means the end result will be a successful experience or an acceptable final outcome.
Being prepared can reduce fear, anxiety, and losses. During natural disasters like a forest fire or a tornado, communities, families, and individuals should know what to do ahead of time. Holding fire drills in schools helps prepare students and teachers in case of an emergency.
Preparation is the key to success. If you take the time to ask yourself how you can prepare best, it allows you to make progress with the final task. This will reduce stress and you can see how you are going to achieve something that might seem daunting at first.
Preparing and planning ahead helps you get up to speed so you are not figuring things out while trying to teach things to someone else. It boosts your confidence and you can share your expertise with others.
Preparation is important in leadership. Great leaders learn how to use their strengths to better prepare themselves to be proactive in solving problems efficiently. Preparation allows you to save both time and money. When leaders listen, they can prepare much better.
The second part of this statement says, ‘Genius is usually preparation.’ I found a quote by Winston Churchill, “Preparation is - if not the key to genius - then at least the key to sounding like a genius.”
Another quote attributed to Thomas Edison is, “Genius is one percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent perspiration.” This quote says that you achieve things primarily through hard work rather than creative ideas. That hard work means being prepared.
There is no excuse for a lack of preparation. You need to prepare for interviews, meetings, presentations, writing a post, events, baking a cake, going to school and taking time for yourself. Do some background research and show up prepared and ready to take ACTION.
