What is Your Life Purpose?

Kekich Credo #100 - The purpose of life is to delay, avoid and eventually reverse death.

The phrase that stood out to me in this credo statement is, ‘the purpose of life.’

The definition of purpose is the object toward which one strives. It is an aim or a goal, an intent or objective. 

What is your life purpose?  Your life purpose consists of the central motivating aims of your life.  The reasons why you get up in the morning.  Your purpose can guide decisions, influence behaviour, shape goals, offer a sense of direction, and create meaning.

Growing up in Canada I was a member of the Canadian Girls In Training.  CGIT is a non-denominational Christian organization for girls in grades 7-12.  This program was first started in 1915 and continues today to provide girls with a place to learn and share leadership skills, social responsibility, self care, and caring for our world and humanity. 

Each weekly meeting would begin by repeating the CGIT purpose.   

The CGIT Purpose:

As a Canadian Girl in Training, Under the leadership of Jesus

My Purpose is to Cherish Health, Seek Truth, Know God and Serve Others

And thus with His help, become the girl God would have me be.

Prior to going to Junior High and entering CGIT, I was also a member of Explorers.  This was a group for girls in grades 4-6.  We earned a total of 6 stars and when you got all six you earned a Golden E pin to wear on your uniform when you graduated into CGIT.

Explorers also had a Purpose which we would quote.

As an Explorer it is my Purpose to Live each day with God’s love to guide me, to Grow each day exploring God’s world of wonders, and to Give of myself each day for God has given me a life to live and share.

In both these organizations our goal was to follow our purpose. It was important that we have a good understanding of what those words meant to us.

Live each day with God’s love to guide me.  Knowing God loves me makes me want to please Him.  He guides me to make the right decisions.  And this also reminds me that even in the worst of times He is always there and will always love me.

Grow each day exploring God’s world of wonders. Think about our world and all the amazing things that God created - the mountains, all the animals, human beings.  I had the opportunity to travel and visit so many places in God’s world.  My Travelling Tuesdays book, tells my story as I had the opportunity to travel to over 75 countries all over this wonderful world.

Give of myself each day for God has given me a life to live and share. It is in giving of ourselves that we truly live lives that God would want us to live.  Each of us has unique and special gifts to use and share with others.

Here is a prayer asking God to help us live our purpose.  

Oh God, Help us to live our purpose to live each day with your love to guide us, grow each day as we explore your world of wonders and help us to give of ourselves, for you have given us this life to live and to share.  Amen.
