Reaching My Fullest and Highest Potential

Life’s Purpose - Reaching My Fullest and Highest Potential - Day 303 - Daily Content Challenge

Life’s Purpose #15 - Reaching My Fullest and Highest Potential

“Realizing self-actualization means reaching your fullest and highest potential. I will use self-reflection to understand my thoughts, behaviours, patterns, talents, and skills. I will also identify my growth areas (I will not call them weaknesses). I will seek to educate myself and increase my knowledge through research, and by engaging in meaningful discussions with others who hold different viewpoints than my own. I will use all of these avenues to improve all aspects of who I am.”

Your full potential is a path not a destination.  It is a journey of liberation from your own limitations and the limitations that others put upon you.  Reaching your full potential takes patience, self-awareness, courage, and a lot of hard work.

Here are some ways to help you reach your full potential in life.

  1. Focus on the Big Picture.

  2. Develop a Goal.  If you want to reach your fullest potential each and every day, you need to have short and long term goals. Goals should be specific, not vague.  They should be measurable.  You want to be able to measure your progress towards reaching the goals.  A goal should be written down.  This makes a goal more real rather than just wishful thinking.

  3. Plan.  Once you have your goals set, you need an action plan to get there.  You should set many small, easily attainable goals in this action plan.

  4. Manage Your Time.  Planning combined with good time management leads to reaching your fullest potential every day.  When you plan out your day and how you want to spend your time, you not only get more done but you also have extra time to spend on what you enjoy.

  5. Practice Discipline.  Another way to think about discipline is delayed gratification.  When you develop the discipline of delayed satisfaction, you will be pushing your boundaries and reaping the rewards that come from the extra effort that is required.

  6. Have a Positive Attitude. A positive attitude enables you to stay focused on what you want to accomplish each day.

  7. Accept That You Will Fail.  There is no such thing as overnight success.  Failure is a part of life and it happens to all of us.  Move on and let it go. Holding on to negative emotions keeps you stuck.  Dwelling on past failures can derail your progress.  Learn from failures and try a new way to solve the problem.

  8. Stay Focused on the Task at Hand.  It is easy to get off track with so many distractions. Staying focused on what you need to get done is key to reaching your fullest potential.  Put your phone on silent when you are trying to finish a task.  Anything that distracts you from completing a task needs to be put away.  Staying focused takes discipline and commitment.

  9. Embrace Simplicity.  When you want to reach your fullest potential, try and simplify what needs to get done before the day starts. Find different ways to save time and make your life simpler.

  10. Recharge.  You will eventually burn out when you are constantly working without any rest.  Taking time to rest and rejuvenate your mind, body and soul allows you to become re-energized for the next day.  You can only reach your fullest potential if you take the time to recharge.

  11. Enjoy Each Moment.  Enjoy the moments that you experience throughout the day.  This means embracing uncomfortable situations as well.  Appreciate what you have in your life.  Enjoy the simple things like having a roof over your head and the fact that you are alive.  Feel grateful and give thanks.

Enjoy the journey as you strive to reach your fullest potential.
