Motivation - Transparency
The single most important ingredient in the recipe for success is transparency, because transparency builds trust. Denise Morrison
The most important ingredient in the recipe for success is transparency. Transparency implies openness, communication and accountability. It refers to a state in which things are free from any attempt to hide something.
Being transparent means not hiding anything. Whether things are good or bad, you openly and honestly convey information as you know it. When done consistently, transparency builds trust. Â
Your ego is not involved and there are no secrets. People like to know things and by taking actions in a way that others can easily see them fosters trust and open communication.
How do you show transparency? Speak honestly and explain how you feel and what you are thinking in a genuine manner. Disclose information. Ask questions and provide feedback.Â
Transparency builds trust. Trust is a firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of someone or something. Trust means you rely on someone else to do the right thing. You believe in the person’s integrity and strength, so you are able to put yourself on the line, at some risk to yourself. Because it provides a sense of safety, trust is essential to an effective team.
Five key elements of trust include reliability, honesty, good will, competency and openness. Being reliable, telling the truth, acting in good faith, doing your job well, and being vulnerable creates trust. Â
