Welcome - OKI

Giving Thanks - Day 9 of Daily Content Challenge

OKI - Welcome

Continuing to Post Messages of Gratitude.

Oki - means welcome in the Blackfoot language.
Lethbridge is located on the traditional territory of the Blackfoot People. We honor, support and respect their cultural ways and language. Lethbridge is also home to the Metis of Alberta, Region III
Oki, pronounced OH-KEE, is the Blackfoot word for “greetings” or “welcome”.  Lethbridge city council declared the Blackfoot word oki as the official greeting of Alberta's third-largest city. Oki was chosen because it is a simple word that anyone can say, it has positive connotations, and it invites people to talk to each other and build connections.
Today I want to give thanks for:
1.  A good start to Handbell Discovery. It was so nice to see faces instead of masks. Zoom is better than not seeing anyone’s face for 18 months.
2. I sent invites to the concert to friends around the world and some have registered for the FREE Concert. Yes!
3. I am so thankful for the laptop I was given to use from Read On. It worked so well allowing me to attend the Handbell Discovery sessions today online.
4. Finally I am thankful for the whole Lethbridge Discovery Committee for all their work in putting together our first ever Virtual Discovery. Kudos to Fiona Miller for the opening video sharing bells by the Chi Rho Ringers and showing the beautiful sites of the High Level Bridge. A wonderful tribute to Joan.
Please join us for the FREE Concert tonight!
