An Angel as a Christmas Tree Topper

Angel on Top of the Tree - Day 72 - Daily Content Challenge

Yesterday I mentioned that my little wooden tree had a star as the topper of my tree. Today I am back home and finally getting around to setting up my tree. Guess what! I have an angel on top of this tree.

Some of you commented that you had an angel as the topper for your tree.
Why do we put angels on top of Christmas trees?
The reason is because angels appeared high in the sky on the first Christmas. Some people say it represents the angel Gabriel who was sent from God to a city called Nazareth to Mary to tell her she was going to have a baby.
Angels also appeared in the sky to shepherds in the field near Bethlehem. They told them to go to Bethlehem to find the baby wrapped in swaddling clothes and laying in a manger.
Do you remember acting out the Nativity Scene in school or in Sunday School. The youngest girls got to be angels and the boys were shepherds. I always wondered why boys were not cast as angels? The angel Gabriel was a male.
Isn’t it interesting that both the angel Gabriel and the angels that spoke to the shepherds first said ‘Do not be afraid’! Fear not! We do not need to be afraid. God is always with us.
The very first angels were homemade ornaments. They were usually made from natural, inexpensive materials like straw. My angel is one I stitched and made from a pattern kit. So, I guess my angel is homemade too.
Let’s take a poll. Comment below and tell me what is on top of your tree?
