Does that 'Ring a Bell' for You?
Bells at Christmas - Day 76 - Daily Content Challenge
Bells symbolize harmony that exists in a society. Bells, like the American Liberty Bell, represent joy and freedom. They announce the coming or arrival of an event, activity, or occasion.
Bells are rung during Christmas to announce the arrival of the season and to proclaim the birth of Christ.
I remember growing up that we would place bells on the lowest branches so if any of our cats, Ginger or Mittens, walked near the tree they would ring.
My pictures today show eight bells that I have on my tree.
The photo below shows six bells. Several of these were ones my Mom had on our Christmas Tree at home and since I am the bell ringer in the family I inherited them. The one in the center front is one I collected while living for a year in Dublin, Ireland.
The other picture shows a souvenir I picked up while at a Handbell Festival called Ringing Under the Northern Lights. Ringers from different country met in Helsinki and we played a couple of handbell concerts in Finland and then went by ferry to Estonia and played two concerts there. Â
We often use the phrase, ‘That rings a bell’. When you say that you mean that it reminds you of something. Very often you can’t remember exactly what it is!
Do you have bells on your Christmas Tree? Does my post ‘ring a bell’ for you?
