Giving Thanks and Expressing Gratitude
Giving Thanks and Expressing Gratitude - Day 5 of Daily Content Challenge
Yesterday was Thanksgiving Day in Canada.
For many of us it was very different from other years because of the pandemic. Rather than having a big family gathering and enjoying a big turkey dinner together, we were encouraged to stick to one household and not invite others to join us.
Some folks were able to meet in an outdoor setting and by practicing social distancing enjoy some time together. My family lives over 3000 miles away so that was not possible for me. But it really wasn’t that much different for me. I have not spent many Thanksgiving Dinners with my family because I have lived and worked too far away to go ‘home’ for one weekend.
What was different is I usually get invited to enjoy a meal with friends on that day.
This year I was able to meet with my Handbell Ringers and hold a rehearsal on Thanksgiving Day. Of course we practice social distancing and wear our masks while at rehearsal. I am thankful for the friendships we have made while ringing bells together.
So what do I give thanks for today?
1. I am thankful for our Health Care Providers who continue to work so hard during this pandemic.
2. I am thankful that my family in Nova Scotia is safe too.
3. I am thankful that we can learn the art of handbell ringing and enjoy playing music together. Check out www.algehr.org and join us for Handbell Discovery that is happening online this coming weekend.
