Keep Tethered to Your Dreams! - Day 486 - Daily Content Challenge
Have you ever had a ride in a hot air balloon? I have! I was fortunate to meet my sister and her husband in Luxor, Egypt during a short school break while teaching in Kuwait. One of the things we did was to take a hot air balloon ride over the Valley of the Kings.Â
Riding in a hot air balloon is peaceful and not as scary as one may think. Hot air balloons have no moving parts nor mechanical parts that could fail so balloon flights are very safe. Hot air is lighter than cold air and balloons trap a large amount of hot air inside the balloon part of the aircraft and that is what keeps it afloat.Â
Hot air balloon crashes and injuries are very rare. Most pilots pay close attention to the weather and only fly when there are calm winds and no rain. Unexpected bad weather can happen and may cause an accident, but this is very rare.
A hot air balloon ride in Luxor is a once-in-a lifetime experience. Flying over some of the most iconic landmarks in Egypt, getting a bird’s eye view as the sun rises and the world wakes up, is a truly magical experience.Â
A hot air balloon ride begins with the preparation of the balloon itself. The balloon is filled with hot air by a powerful propane burner. The balloon slowly rises into the sky and once the balloon is fully inflated, it is ready for takeoff. Â
The ascent of a hot air balloon is peaceful and serene, with the balloon drifting gently over the landscape. On a clear day, you can see for miles in every direction.
Hot air balloons are typically flown in the early morning or late afternoon when the winds are calm and stable. Modern hot air balloons are equipped with the latest safety features, including sturdy baskets, backup systems and well-trained pilots with years of experience. But there are no bathroom facilities available on balloons! Be sure and take a bathroom break before take-off, as most flights can last over an hour. Â
Hot air balloon rides are a unique and exciting way to explore the world and to see it from an environmentally-friendly perspective. Hot air ballooning in Luxor over the Valley of the Kings was an experience I will not forget.
These are the sayings I found on the bookmark called Advice from a Hot Air Balloon.
-
Rise early
-
Lighten Up
-
Give your friends a lift
-
Always stay on the up and up
-
Keep tethered to your dreams
-
Put all that hot air to good use
-
Get fired up!
Here are my comments about each of these sayings. Â
-
Rise early - The early morning hours tend to be the most productive time of the day because you get uninterrupted time to yourself.Â
-
Lighten Up - Lighten up usually means take things less seriously. Of course the hot air balloon will fly much easier if the basket is lighter too. Less weight in the basket is more ideal.
-
Give your friends a lift - Encourage one another. This will give them a lift to their day.
-
Always stay on the up and up - Keep everything honest and legal. Â
-
Keep tethered to your dreams - Tethered means tied. Keep a hold of your dreams. Make sure your actions bring you closer to reaching your dream.
-
Put all that hot air to good use - We sometimes say he is just full of hot air meaning he is always talking but doesn’t do anything to contribute to the solution. Be sure all your words are followed up by action. Â
-
Get fired up! - Be enthusiastic and take action. Â
Have a great day everyone! Keep tethered to your dreams!
